Passion
Life is made of those important memories you have with your friends and family. Many of those memories include those silly selfies & friends pictures that we take while we listen to our favorite song on the radio. Music to teens is life! Without it where would we be? Music is more than just notes on a paper. It is a passion that gives you indescribable emotions. Music is SO much more than just a tune. Music is the feeling you get when you listen to it for the first time and think to yourself, I really like this song. Music is the way you think deeply into the lyrics just because. Music is the moment you realize that you have replayed a song 3 times and didn’t get tired of hearing it. Music is the moment you get a song stuck in your head, but do not mind because it’s there to never leave your side. Music is SO much more than notes on a paper, it’s a passion.

The History of the NP Pilgrim’s name
As we all know the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock Massachusetts in 1620. A man on that ship was Mr. Smyth an irrigation company owner. Yet in Massachusetts the land was not very fertile, so he started a strike and moved to Southwestern Idaho. They planted all the trees and plants in a large horseshoe so; their small city will be on the map. Soon after in 1902 they built our original school. When we began school sports we needed a mascot. There are 7 or 8 different Plymouth schools in the U.S.A and, most of their mascots are the pilgrims. Why break tradition? Mr. Kirby say, and I quote; “I like being the Pilgrims because as the pilgrims we explore and try different things in different approaches. We stand up for what is right. It is cool mascots the Pilgrims are very unique.” For this article we had help from Super Intendant Mr. Kirby we would like to thank him personally for his help in journalism.”

Teen Driving
Driving teens can’t wait for the day that they get on the road, but driving is not as safe as you may think. Approximately 6,000 teens get in car accidents a year. About 15 or more teens die a day from driving. This makes them the number one age of deaths that occur from car accidents. Most accidents were proven that the teen was drunk or on drugs. However, having teenage passengers and cellphone use is quickly on the rise for main causes of teen accidents. More states have risen the age to 16 or above to get their driver’s licenses. However, 9 states still have the age of 15 or below. Idaho is one of these states. This probably makes you more cautious on the road, even a little nervous. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Hopefully it can even prevent some accidents in New Plymouth. Please, when you study, study hard, and when you drive, be safe.

Energy drinks
Most energy drinks contain a large amount of caffeine, which gives you a little energy boost. Some contain sugar and other unhealthy substances. Boost only lives a very short while and may be accompanied by other problems. This product can make you gain weight without even knowing it. The side effects from drinking these energy drinks can be: 1. Nervousness 2. Irritability 3. Insomnia 4. Rapid heartbeats 5. Increased blood pressure.
In the New Plymouth Middle school we polled 171 teenagers, 100 of them said they do not drink energy drinks. The remaining 71 students admitted they do. We hope that all of you reading this article understand the health risks and damage that these drinks can cause to our bodies.

Wash Your Hands
Do you wash your hands after you go to the bathroom or before you eat lunch? Well you’re supposed to. You are supposed to wash your hands before preparing food, or treating a wound. You are supposed to wash your hands after preparing food, especially raw meat or poultry, using the toilet or changing a diaper, touching an animal or anything that was in contact with the animal, picking up trash, blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing into your hands, treating a wound or caring for the sick or injured, handling garden chemicals or anything that is contaminated or even could be. When we did a survey at lunch time we (being Jalin and Savanna) asked you if you washed your hands or not. 87 people said they either washed their hands or used hand sanitizer. 67 people said they didn’t. There were 9 people who ate cold lunch that said they washed their hands. There were 11 people who ate cold lunch that didn’t. So next time you go to lunch just think of all the people who touched the tray you pick up for lunch, the walls you touch when you’re walking down the hall, or even writing with your pencil. JUST REMEMBER TO WASH YOUR HANDS!!!

Why Do Leaves change?
Have you ever wondered why the leaves of fall change colors? The reason this happens is that in the spring and summer the leaves produce foods, which are necessary for the tree’s growth. This process takes place in the leaf in the numerous cells containing chlorophyll. That gives the leaf its color. This chemical absorbs energy from the sunlight, that energy is used in transforming carbon dioxide and water to carbohydrates. In the fall, because of the changes in daylight and temperature, the leaves stop producing food. The chlorophyll breaks down, the green color disappears, and the yellow to orange colors become more and more visible as the fall approaches.

Volleyball Poll
If volleyball was an option for boys, 10 out of 45 middle school boys would play. If the school were to add a boys’ volleyball team we would have to ask the other schools to create one. Then in order for the middle school boys to get volleyball, our school has to create another girl sport. We chose tennis. The results were extinguishing, 19 out of 33 New Plymouth Middle School girls would participate in tennis. For all this to happen, we would have to also have to get the other schools in our district to participate in making teams.
